Техника десяти кистей, Sprzęt dziesięć pędzle, 10のブラシへの道, way of ten brushes, façon de dix brosses, modo per dieci spazzole, Art und Weise zu zehn Bürsten, 方法十刷

When I discovered the technique of ten brushes, I could not to think how much more it means than I imagined. The Technique of Ten Brushes is not just another way to paint. It's a way to reconsider the art of painting.
(Serge Feeleenger)

THE TECHNIQUE OF TEN BRUSHES is a such technique in painting that allows you to work with ten brushes at same time. It has a number of advantages over the classical use of the only one artistic brush:a convenience, a reduction of the drawing period, an aggregate portability of painting techniques and an individuality of style.
Using the special fingertips, You fix the artistic brushes on each finger of your hand. If the brushes are fixed correctly their length is equal. As a first step you begin with two brushes on different hands (this is important)- They can be fixed for example, on yours index fingers. Eventually You can use 4 brushes and more.

Mutual - You paint with all brushes at the same time.
In Series - You use all brushes alternately.

Mutual In One-Colour - You have the same colour of paint on
all brushes (It is effective for an applying of background or
for a big single-colours parts of the picture (for example an

Mutual Multicolour For Gradient - It is useful when You with help of colours want to transfer faster the volume of an
object . For example, you create several colors (from red to light-pink). You apply on an each brush a different colour - from the darkest to lighter. On the little finger I advice You to apply a white (or another the lightest) colour. The same way You form all different shades.

Mutual Mixed - You choose the necessary colours on each brush. During the drawing colours are mixed and the palette is formed straight on the brushes.

One-Colours In Series - You have the same colour on all the brushes. (It is effective for different lines, You don't need
to use the palette regularly.)

Multicolour In Series For Gradient - You need to work out the details of one colour area.

Combined - this one contains all possible variations of mixing the manners of painting: Mutual, In Series, Multicolour etc.

Brushes should be put on correctly!
You can not put on the brushes under your fingers or at any side of your fingers. If You do it, Your fingers can not bend properly and in this way the range of finger work is getting smaller. Brushes are puted on above, and only, above the fingers!

Our fingers have different lenght.Nevertheless, during our work, the ends of brushes should be in contact with the canvas on one line.  Also You can set the length which will provide to your hands the most convenient position.
For WTB we use the special fingercaps. Thay are made from a elastic and ough textiles and have a narrow loop for brush above. Without this loop, the brush will be move loosely and squeeze Your finger.

Advantages over tape:
              1. The fingercaps are quickly puted on and quickly removed.
2.You can put them on Yourself ( That is very comfortable during Your               work in the openair).
              3. You can adjust the length of brushes during the process.
              4. Also during the process, you can change the brushes.

Fingercaps should match the size of your fingers. They are marked to avoid a further confusion.

First of all I want to note that you can not use brush attachments for calligraphy and the finger brushes for children.
When you use these attachments , you can not adjust the length of the brushes and the angle of contact with canvas. Also a thickness of attachments will reduce a range of finger work. Thereby it will exclude the close contact of brushes and prevent an accurate work with the picture.
I do not recommend to use the gloves with attached brashes. The thin gloves don't fix brushes on the fingers. Thick gloves have the same problems as described above brush attachments.
Also your hands feel too much warm during work in gloves. If you are a novice in ToTB, I advise You to begin with two brushes on different hands (this is important!) - for example, on yours index fingers. Later You can use 4 brushes etc. In this way
You adapt and improve your motility. Also, remember that you don't must always to put on all 10 brushes, for example when You need just 8 colors better to use 8 brushes (etc. depending on the situation). I usually put on all of them - I find nice that each finger has own handwriting. Through this picture acquires an interesting pattern of strokes and vibrations, even If I work smoothly. So sometimes I can duplicate some shades.
I also find pretty temp of Combined method and commodity of Colours In Series method. I work often with more than ten shades (especially when I do glazing). Fingertips are very good for such moments – You can change brushes easy and so often how You want. During the work with ToTB You should have already noticed how many different tricks can be observed from interaction of your brushes. For example You can remove with two right hand brushes paint in the right direction of canvas from the brush on your left hand, which leads the line, etc. It's impossible when You are working with only one brush. Just try and You will find an endless variety of options and interesting interaction of colours and brushes. I want to remind you - cut your brushes! I don't like standard forms of the bristles. I always give a shape to new brushes.
